Description

Are you interested in teaching English to overseas students? Can you handle a class of 15 demanding teenagers? Are you able to inspire and motivate a class?

If you re looking for the opportunity to work for supportive and well respected organisation that truly values your experience and new ideas, then we have the perfect opportunity for you this summer. 

You will be provided with our full support including teachers’ handbooks, syllabuses, daily lesson guidelines and a variety of teaching materials to assist in organising your classes. You will be responsible for planning/teaching of classes and all related administrative tasks for which we have allocated time.

Other duties will include:

  • Attending an induction training session before the course starts or on arrival at the centre
  • Following the IQ academic programme you have been given
  • Helping with placement and grouping of students
  • Completing a class register for each class with records of student attendance
  • Assisting with the completion of course certificates and attending the award ceremonies
  • Reporting student absences or sickness to the Centre Director’s representative at the beginning of each lesson
  • Helping ensure that all aspects of the programme, both academic and social, run smoothly and efficiently

Depending on the centre location and your level of experience, you could follow one of two timetables.

Standard timetable
5 mornings which will comprise of 17.5 hours of contact teaching time and 5 hours of administration (preparation, marking etc…) each week.

Zigzag timetable
5 morning and 5 afternoon sessions which will comprise of up to 35 hours of contact teaching time and 10 hours of administration (preparation, marking etc…) each week.

Requirements

  • Native or native level English speaker
  • TEFL qualified with either CELTA/Trinity TESOL (min 6 hours TP and 100 hours theory) or PGCE in English or Modern Foreign Languages
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Able to motivate and encourage
Desirable:
  • Previous experience of working in summer schools
  • Previous experience working with minors
  • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Strong time management and planning
  • Proven ability to work well in a team
