Description

We are currently looking for House Supervisors to join us at International House Oxford & Ellesmere, Shropshire this Summer.
 
  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for students in your care
  • Deal with all arrivals and departures in the house, including dealing with medical and student information forms, student ID cards, and collecting students’ passports and other valuables which will need to be kept in the office for safe keeping.
  • In liaison with the Director of Student Services and the host school, carry out status checks of your boarding house at the beginning of the programme and at the end of the programme
  • Provide care and counselling and support students through any difficulties they should have while on a young learner programme
  • Encourage students to mix with students of different nationalities and where possible place students of different nationalities in bedrooms together
  • Coordinate, with other residential members of staff, an adequate wake up and bedtime rota, ensuring maximum safety at all time
  • Check students in at night and ensure the house is calm and ready for sleep
  • In liaison with the Director of Student Services and the host school, coordinate a fire drill at the beginning of each new course
  • Carry out student room checks and make sure that any damage is reported immediately to the Director of Student services
  • Accompany students on external visits and ensure they complete their worksheets and are safe at all times
  • Organise/supervise sports and social activities as required by the Director of Out of Class Activities, ensuring the safety and welfare of students at all times
  • Carry out duties associated with the transfer of students on arrival and departure days as required by the Director of Student Services
  • Encourage students to actively take part in all aspects of a young learner programme
  • Deal with student issues/emergencies as required
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children in your care

Requirements

  • Working towards a degree or equivalent
  • Experience of working with children.
  • Residential/Pastoral Experience
  • People Management.
  • Residential Experience
  • Experience of working with foreign students.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Good time management. & organizational skills.
  • Good IT skills.  
  • Satisfactory DBS Check
Desirable
  • Pastoral or psychology qualifications 
  • Counselling experience 
  • First Aid qualified
