Description

We are currently looking for an Assistant Director of Studies to join us at International House Oxford & Ellesmere, Shropshire this summer. Responsibilities include:
  • Testing and placing students
  • Ensure student discipline in classes as appropriate
  • Ensure the provision of sound academic advice, support and feedback to students
  • Carry out observations of EFL staff and provide written feedback to the individual teachers and provide a copy of this written feedback to IH London
  • Provide support and advice for EFL teachers as necessary
  • Liaise with other members of the senior staff team to provide a meaningful and academic visit to the chosen destination.
  • Manage and set up academic resources
  • Teach where necessary
  • Participate in the social and pastoral elements of the programme where necessary
  • Deal with student and staff issues and emergencies as and when necessary
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children in your care
  • Deputise for the Director of Studies and be on call as required.

Requirements

  • Degree educated or equivalent
  • Professional Qualifications: Trinity TESOL or Cambridge CELTA certificate
  • Experience of teaching children
  • Academic Management.
  • People Management.
  • Experience of working with foreign students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a client focused approach
  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Confidence to take initiative and work autonomously
  • Commitment to providing a quality service to clients
  • Special Requirements
  • Satisfactory DBS check

 
Desirable

  • Trinity, Cambridge DELTA or PGCE
