Description

Work in a residential language school this summer! 

The EFL Teacher is responsible for the preparation, co-ordination and teaching of English as part of the academic programme. The teacher will work closely with the Director of Studies (DOS) to assist in the student testing, timetabling, progress monitoring and administration of EFL classes.

Job tasks:
 
  • Teach up to 30 hours a week and lead Conversation Club (whenever required), prepare lessons (2 ½ hours a week), attend CPD sessions (1-2 hours a week) and help with recreational activities and excursions (8 hours a week)
  • Assist the DOS with student testing and placement 
  • Teach English to a high standard following the syllabus set out in the Ardmore Language Schools’ workbooks and academic programme
  • Prepare and deliver lessons with the aim of achieving the objectives and outcomes of the Ardmore Language Schools’ syllabus
  • Use teaching techniques that are appropriate to the level and needs of the students making every effort to create a positive learning environment enabling students to participate purposefully in the lessons
  • Make lessons stimulating and enjoyable with particular emphasis on the practical use of the English language (e.g. speaking and listening skills)
  • Administer and mark course assessments tasks as well as marking Placement and Exit Tests 
  • Maintain excellent class administration including lesson preparation, class registration and monitoring student progress and ensure that this is submitted each week
  • Complete individual student Progress Reports where necessary and issue final certificates to students
  • Accompany and supervise students on a full day excursion (when necessary, on a rota basis)
  • Assist with activities or residential welfare duties and meal duties when required
  • Respond to general emergencies at all times

Requirements

Essential
  • 18+ years old 
  • Enhanced DBS or CRB Certificate 
  • First Degree and CELTA or Trinity TESOL, or PGCE, or other 
  • Experience Min six hours of observed teaching practice as part of the training course Previous experience in summer school environment
 
Desirable

  • DELTA / Dip TESOL
  • First Aid Certificate 
  • Safeguarding Children Level 1 certificate 
  • Previous experience in summer school environment
